Grimaud, a small town in “The Var”, is split into two very distinct parts; the medieval village, and the more modern lakeside village. Grimaud’s medieval village is a lovely little place, very characteristic of the South of France. At the top of the hill, you can explore the remains of the old castle. Wander the charming little back alleys and small streets of the village, with their old wooden doors and delightful little flower pots.
The second area of Grimaud is the larger waterside town. Its main feature, the Port of Grimaud, was built entirely on the water. This area, built all over the water, is very characteristic of Venice, hence its nickname “The Cote d’Azur’s little Venice”. Visitors can take a boat out onto the canals and explore the little fishing houses and French architecture.
Grimaud remains a relatively remote area, and has very little public transport. The best way to visit this town and to see all of its lovely little areas is by rental car. Easy Car Booking has a large range of rental cars to suit your needs for this trip.
